TKMS intensifies cooperation with Singapore

TKMS and the Marine area from ST Engineering signed a Declaration of intentäration about one Joint maintenance- and service centre for

As the company announced in a press release, the The agreement extends the existing partnership between the two companies and serves to ensure the long-term operational readiness of the submarines operated by the Republic of Singapore Navy (RSN) and other international users. The memorandum of understanding was signed by Oliver Burkhard, CEO TKMS, and Tan Leong Peng, President of the Marine Division at ST Engineering, in the presence of Boris Pistorius, Minister of Defence of Germany, and Chan Chun Sing, Minister of Defence of Singapore, during a ministerial visit.

Oliver Burkhard, CEO of TKMS, explained that the co-operation with ST Engineering is a strong foundation to ensure the long-term operational readiness of the Republic of Singapore Navy's submarines as well as other navies operating TKMS submarines. The 218SG class submarines manufactured in Kiel are among the most modern conventional submarines in the world. The Invincible class (Type 218 SG) of the Singapore Navy consists of the RSS Invincible, which was launched in 2019, as well as the RSS Impeccable and RSS Illustrious. Christening was in 2022. In 2025, the construction of two more submarines of this type was agreed, with some boats to be built in Wismar rather than Kiel. The 218 SG class is specially tailored to Singapore's requirements and is based on the German submarine classes 212A and 214.
