TKMS and Seaspan Shipyards sign co-operation agreement

Maintenance for the Canadian submarine programme

As both companies announced in a press release, TKMS and Seaspan will work together with the Royal Canadian Navy and the Canadian Ministry of Defence. The collaboration will combine TKMS' submarine technology with Seaspan's Canadian capabilities.

The collaboration will focus on the Canadian Submarine Programme (CPSP), with further opportunities potentially arising from TKMS' international customers and programmes. This agreement is the latest in a series of co-operation agreements that TKMS has signed with Canadian industry partners. Canada has identified the creation of a national maintenance capability for the future West and East Coast submarines as a priority goal of the CPSP. This involves the Royal Canadian Navy, the Maritime Equipment Programme, Fleet Maintenance Facilities and Canadian industry.

According to Thomas Keupp, Chief Sales Officer of TKMS, the partnership underscores both companies' commitment to sustained support excellence and the goals of the Canadian submarine programme. The collaboration combines Seaspan's Canadian know-how and supply chain with TKMS' submarine systems expertise to establish a comprehensive maintenance model that will benefit both the national industry and potential export projects. John McCarthy, CEO of Seaspan Shipyards, highlights that the CPSP is a key Canadian defence project and Seaspan's unique submarine maintenance expertise makes it ideally positioned to support the new fleet for decades to come.
