Visiting the Queen

We have already reported on the unusual guest in the Port of Hamburg.

For shipspotters - British aircraft carrier visits Hamburg

On Thursday, we had the privileged opportunity to visit the large warship. For security reasons, it was not open to the public, and we from Mittler-Report were not allowed on board without further ado, but had to undergo the professional and very careful security checks carried out by the Hamburg Home Guard. The comrades from the state command obviously had their hands full making sure our friends had a good stay. Once on board, we were welcomed by an officer and a chief who showed us round the ship. You can imagine that this quickly degenerated into shop talk. And it was the same as always. We talked about ships and harbours, and soon we had mutual acquaintances - this time from Plymouth. FOST. More questions. Great hosts, nice mates.

We took a few photos for those of you who, like us, couldn't get on board and weren't at the reception today. Please, we weren't allowed to do that everywhere and had to have our phones locked away "in the inner sanctum".
