Commanding a ship or boat in the German Navy is undoubtedly one of, if not the most important assignment in the career of a naval officer. Unfortunately, this does not always last and so the day comes when you have to relinquish your command. The outgoing commander, frigate captain Phillip Wohlrab, has been in charge of the BRAVO crew for the past three years. Together with his team, he completed many training and exercise phases and is considered an experienced commander in the corvette squadron. He was also deployed twice with his BRAVOs in the UNIFIL mission off the coast of Lebanon. By his own admission Frigate Captain Wohlrab proud of his "excellent crew", with whom he was both delighted and honoured. There were sometimes exciting situations, at the sharp end, in maritime operations of the German Navy. The commander of the 1st Corvette Squadron, Frigate Captain Kenneth Harms, praised and recognised the outgoing commander, as Frigate Captain Wohlrab was the commander who deployed the Sea Falcon drone on board a corvette for the first time. Following the handover of command, the thirty-eight-year-old naval officer will take up a post on a multinational staff on the east coast of the United States of America.
The person taking over is Corvette Captain Bianca Seifert. No stranger to the 1st Corvette Squadron. After all, the officer is Former 1st watch officer of frigate captain Wohlrab.
Her assumption of command is a first since the squadron was established in 2006. Corvette Captain Seifert is the first female commander at Hohe Düne. She completed her training as an officer of the watch and graduated as commander in 2020. During the time between her assignment as 1st officer of the watch and commander, she was assigned to the Naval Operations School in Bremerhaven.
The youngest commander in the squadron is looking forward to her assignment with enthusiasm, as several sea voyages on multinational manoeuvres are planned for the coming year.
marine forum wishes the outgoing commander all the best in his new role and the new commander all the best and the necessary fortune.
