The 12th Maritime Colloquium Wilhelmshaven took place in Wilhelmshaven under the motto „Navy in transition“ with high-ranking experts from the German Armed Forces, politics and industry. As an exclusive specialist format, the event served as a closed exchange on the future of the German Navy, armaments processes and the modernisation of defence capacities.
The main topics of the colloquium were Turning Point & Material, Drone Defence and War Capability.
After the opening by Rear Admiral (ret.) Karsten Schneider, President of the German Maritime Institute, Carsten Feist, Mayor of the City of Wilhelmshaven, gave his welcoming address. The keynote speaker of the event was Rear Admiral Christoph Müller-Meinhard, Commander Support and Head of Department Operational Support Naval Command.
The topic of new approaches to logistics began with „The system network of the Navy BAAINBw and industry“ by Flotilla Admiral David Helmbold, Commander of the Naval Support Command Wilhelmshaven. Flotilla Admiral Andreas Mügge, Commander of the Bundeswehr Logistics Centre, continued with the topic „Logistics under new conditions“. This was followed by contributions from the industry on future operational logistics. The navy is under attack, shipyards, bases and depots, i.e. mission-critical infrastructure, must be protected. Industry representatives presented protection solutions. Captain Andreas Seidl, Commander of the Naval Operations School Bremerhaven, spoke in favour of training at naval schools in the event of an emergency.
