On 12 November 2021 the Bundeswehr looks back on the day it was founded. Dhis year, the armed forces are presenting themselves in Rostock's city harbour. Alongside Soldiers, who will be on hand to answer questions and look forward to meeting visitors, will also have equipment on display:
- Minehunting boat "Pegnitz" from Kiel (with Open Ship)
- Anti-aircraft missile group 21 from Sanitz
- Medical support centre from Neubrandenburg and Torgelow
- Diving group from the Warnemünde naval base
- Infomobile of the Navy
The founding date of 12 November 1955 came about when the first 101 volunteers were sworn in at the Ermekeil barracks in Bonn. One could also name 5 May 1955, the date on which rearmament was decided amid fierce domestic political disputes. Another date would be the founding of the military administration on 7 June 1955 or the official naming as the "Bundeswehr" on 1 April 1956, so there would be many days to celebrate.
