USA - The future JACK H. LUCAS, America's newest ARLEIGH-BURKE class destroyer, completed its acceptance trials before the Board of Inspection and Survey at the end of May. The LUCAS is the first unit of the third batch of this ship class, which has been built for 35 years. It has been repeatedly equipped with the latest systems and is at the cutting edge of technology. The centrepiece of Flight III is the AN/SPY-6 air surveillance and air defence radar, in addition to improvements to the power generation and cooling systems. DDG 125 will be commissioned shortly, and the next four destroyers are already awaiting completion at Huntington Ingalls Industries in Newport News, Virginia.
