NATO ends Neptune Strike 2022

"Neptune Strike 22" took place from 24 January to 4 February 2022. This was a NATO activity that centred on the interoperability of naval and air forces. Over 20 nations took part. How Irish fishermen took action against the Russian fleet....

.... and won The action shows how civil outrage can force governments to act. In this case, it was a Russian naval manoeuvre. One group has now shown how to do it. When Russia announced its intention to carry out manoeuvres with warships off the Irish coast, Irish fishermen developed such an effective deterrent that the Russian navy cancelled the exercise. The exercise was originally due to take place in Ireland's fishing and economic zone from 3 February. Irish officials announced that the exercise was "unwelcome and undesirable", but were apparently unable to convince their Russian counterparts to cancel it.

UPDATE: Large container ship free again

The ship that ran aground on the night of 2 February while approaching the Weser estuary is free. Using a total of eight tugs, salvage teams on the North Sea have brought the grounded container freighter "Mumbai Maersk" back underway. This was announced by the Central Command for Maritime Emergencies in Cuxhaven after the salvage operation, according to dpa. Report on material readiness II/2021: German Navy

While they used to be inseparable and were published together as one report, the armaments report and the report on the material readiness of the Bundeswehr's main weapon systems are now published separately by the Federal Ministry of Defence, albeit usually at the same time.
