US Navy present in Europe

We have reported several times about the US destroyers stationed in Rota. So what's new? The Americans took part in two operations, demonstrating their interest in a European presence. Aircraft carrier encounters sail training ship

And here's a short message to go with a nice photo: The British Royal Navy Carrier Strike Group 21 (CSG 21) is now in the Middle East to conduct exercises with friendly Gulf neighbours. The F-35s are to work together with the air forces of Oman and the United Arab Emirates in the Persian Gulf. The HMS Queen Elisabeth encountered the Shabab Oman II, the sail training ship of the Oman Navy. The sailing vessel has been part of the permanent training programme for Omani cadets since 2014, was built in Romania and fitted out in the Netherlands (Damen Shipyards). She is 87 metres long, 11 metres wide and has a sail area of 2,700 square metres.

Drugs seized in the Caribbean

Warship has coastguard team on board for police duties. Conceivable in Germany too? According to the Navy Times, the USS Sioux City seized more than 20 million dollars worth of cocaine last month. The Coast Guard team on board was able to seize around 1,110 pounds of the drug from a smuggling speedboat in the Caribbean on 19 September. The Sioux City and a Dominican Republic vessel spotted a "very fast boat" that day, whereupon the LCS (Littoral Combat Ship) Sioux City deployed a speedboat and chased after the smugglers. The smugglers were quickly brought under control.

A home port for the frigate Hessen

Bad Homburg: Mayor Dr Oliver Jedynak presented a naval delegation from the frigate Hessen with a plaque bearing the inscription "Bad Homburg - Kurstadt" on Wednesday, 27 October 2021, at the Villa Wertheimber in Bad Homburg on behalf of 11 other Hessian municipalities. The 12 plaques are to be installed on board the frigate Hessen. The presentation of the plaques was initiated by the chairman of the Freundeskreis Fregatte Hessen e.V., Bernhard P. Kluge from Friedrichsdorf. A 25-strong delegation from the frigate Hesse is currently visiting Wiesbaden in its sponsor country at the invitation of the State Chancellery.
