Raytheon Missiles & Defence hat in der vergangenen Woche die erste Tomahawk Block V an die US Navy ausgeliefert. Die neue Variante verfügt über verbesserte Navigations- und Kommunikationssysteme. Erst im Dezember 2020 hat die Navy ihre Tests mit der neuen Waffe beendet. Der Flugkörper kann von U-Booten und Schiffen abgefeuert werden. Mit ihm können Ziele in bis zu 1800 Kilometer Entfernung mit hoher Präzision bekämpft werden. After three years, Frigate Captain Torsten Eidam has handed over command of the support squadron to Frigate Captain Uwe Lahl. Eidam is moving to the naval command in Rostock to work on the conceptual planning of the navy. With Frigate Captain Lahl, another experienced naval officer is taking over the squadron. He can look back on assignments as commander of a fast patrol boat, deputy commander of the corvette squadron and consultant in the planning department of the Federal Ministry of Defence in Berlin. With the departure of the USS Arleigh Burke from Norfolk on the US East Coast, a change is now in the offing.
