BUND calls for more protection for the Wadden Sea World Heritage Site

The German Federation for the Environment and Nature Conservation (BUND) is calling for better protection of the Wadden Sea in the expansion of offshore wind energy and planned natural gas extraction, particularly in order to preserve the title of "UNESCO World Heritage Site". The protection of the Wadden Sea must be consistently prioritised over economic interests, as the status of the area is severely threatened by exploitation interests. In the last status report from September 2023, the UNESCO World Heritage Commission declared that the extraction of raw materials was incompatible with the Wadden Sea's World Heritage status. Start of production "keel laying" of the German Poseidon

Boeing and Spirit Aerosystems began production of the first of eight P-8A maritime patrol aircraft for Germany at a ceremony in Wichita, Kansas (USA) on 3 April 2024. Representatives of the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw), the German Navy and the German P-8A Poseidon industrial team took part in the keel-laying ceremony at Spirit Aerosystems. Change of command on the frigates "Mecklenburg-Vorpommern" and "Sachsen"

There was a lot going on at the Wilhelmshaven base on Friday: the commander of the 2nd Frigate Squadron, Captain Olliver Pfennig, handed over command of the frigate "Mecklenburg-Vorpommern" from Frigate Captain Wolfgang Eckmüller to Frigate Captain Daniel Wolter.
