Royal Navy trials autonomous RIB

The Royal Navy has taken a major step towards the use of autonomous ships. During recent trials in Plymouth, the frigate HMS Argyll piloted an unmanned Pacific 24 inflatable boat (RIB) at sea. During the week-long trials, conducted by the Royal Navy's technical division, NavyX, and BAE Systems, the cameras and sensors on board the boat constantly fed data to Argyll and a temporary operations centre was set up in the ship's hangar. For the first time, the RIB's control system was also integrated into the ship's operations room so that it could be controlled and commanded from the same location.

The members of the Maritime Cluster Northern Germany (MCN) have re-elected parts of the Executive Board. The election took place by postal vote following the virtual general meeting on 6 September 2021. The new second chairman of the MCN is Martin Pieper, Elmar Hertzog und Partner Management Consultants GmbH. Frank Nicolai, Moore BRL GmbH, is the MCN Treasurer for a further two years. The delegates elected Frank Dettmering as the new President. Following her week-long visit to Perth, Australia, the frigate BAYERN has entered the harbour of Guam as planned on her seven-month training cruise through the Indo-Pacific. During the 14-day transit, two bunker stops in Darwin/North Australia and Palau/Micronesia were planned in addition to smaller training sections with the navies of the nations on the route. Changing of the guard: Minehunting boat "Bad Bevensen" replaces "Homburg"

On Thursday, 21 October 2021, the minehunting boat "Bad Bevensen" will leave its home port of Kiel at 10 am. The boat will be part of NATO's Standing NATO Mine Countermeasures Group 1 (SNMCMG 1) for the coming months. She replaces the "Homburg", which had already left Kiel on 14 July.
