The good news: the contractually anchored option for two more ships can be exercised following the decision of the German Bundestag's Budget Committee on 12 June. On 19 June 2024 - exactly four years after the construction contract for the first batch was signed - the contract for the second batch of two F 126 ships was signed in Koblenz at the Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw). "Gorch Fock" returns from the 177th training voyage abroad On Friday, 14 June 2024, the sail training ship will return at 10 a.m. in time for Kiel Week. A total of over 6,000 nautical miles were travelled, including 4,208 nautical miles under sail. The successful training voyage, during which a total of 225 officer cadets underwent maritime training, called at the ports of Gijon (Spain), Tangier (Morocco), Porto (Portugal) and Saint-Malo (France).
