Today, the commander of Operational Flotilla 2, Flotilla Admiral Axel Schulz, handed over command of the Trossgeschwader from Frigate Captain Thorsten Geldmacher to the squadron's new commander, Captain Andreas Schmekel. The handover ceremony took place on the task force supply ship "Berlin" at the Heppenser Groden naval base in Wilhelmshaven. The outgoing commander, Frigate Captain Geldmacher, had been in command of the squadron for five years.
