Frigate heading for the Indo-Pacific?

Now the time has come: Berlin has decided to bring the Indo-Pacific Guidelines adopted in September to life. In the foreword, Federal Foreign Minister Heiko Maas states: "As a globally active trading nation and advocate of a rules-based international order, Germany cannot content itself with a bystander role in the face of this dynamic development. We have an excellent reputation in many areas of bilateral cooperation and address important issues such as climate and environmental protection, renewable energies and vocational training. Germany maintains strategic partnerships with a number of countries in the region with a large overlap of common interests." In addition, "Germany must become even more involved in the existential security concerns of its neighbouring...

North wind restoration project

In the last week of February, the engineering firm Detlef Löll spent around one and a half days inspecting the former sailor's training boat Nordwind at the Neue Jadewerft shipyard and determining the need for repairs. All contact persons were isolated and the entire crew was tested. The training programme at sea is to be continued at the start of the new week. The frigate Sachsen has been engaged in shipyard trials since the beginning of the year and began building up its operational capability a week ago.

The deliveries are scheduled to take place in the course of this year. The ships, which have been in service since 2008, are equipped with the TRS-3D three-dimensional multifunction radar for air and sea surveillance.
