Swearing-in ceremony in Bremerhaven

Swearing-in ceremony and solemn pledge at the Naval Operations School On Thursday, 6 February 2025, at 5 p.m., 175 soldiers will take their solemn pledge at the Naval Operations School. The commanding officer, Captain Andreas Seidl, will administer the oath to the recruits. They will publicly pledge their loyalty to the Federal Republic of Germany and undertake to bravely defend the law and freedom of the German people. The recruits include 74 regular soldiers and 101 volunteers doing military service. Numerous guests are also expected to attend, including Dr Eva Högl, Parliamentary Commissioner for the Armed Forces, as well as representatives from politics, business and the public sector.

US aircraft carrier "JFK" - one name, two generations

The famous US aircraft carrier, the "John F. Kennedy" (CV-67), has embarked on its final journey to be scrapped. Plans to turn the veteran into a floating museum have failed for cost reasons, but the story will continue. From 16 January, three tugs towed the "Big John" from her anchorage off Philadelphia down the east coast of the USA to the Gulf of Mexico in Brownsville, Texas. On the way to the glass ocean

Maritime data cables and pipelines have repeatedly been the target of attacks. Interdisciplinary cooperation could significantly improve the security of critical underwater infrastructure. Increasing geopolitical uncertainty and repeated incidents, such as the recently reported espionage by Russian research vessels in European waters, have highlighted the vulnerability of critical underwater infrastructure. The threat to pipelines, offshore wind farms and especially communication cables is increasing. This is illustrated by the damage to the C-Lion1 cable between Finland and Germany and the BCS East-West Interlink, which connects Lithuania with the Swedish island of Gotland.
