Co-operation between A&R and Fassmer

The further cooperation was formally announced at the EURONAVAL maritime trade fair in Paris on 5 November 2024. The signed partnership is not new territory for either shipyard; both shipyards already support each other with the multi-purpose vessels for the Federal Ministry of Digital and Transport. The first multi-purpose vessel is currently moored at the pier at Fassmer and is being fitted out by Abeking & Rasmussen. A 105 metre long hydrographic vessel (BHO) for the Indonesian navy is on its way from Indonesia to the Weser. This is also a joint project between the two shipyards.

According to experts, this ship fire shows once again the dangers for the Baltic Sea ecosystem. All seven crew members have been recognised by the German...

Indo-Pacific Association does not sail through the Red Sea - why this is a good thing

An explanatory piece - from the pier. The question of whether the German Navy's Indo-Pacific convoy, consisting of the frigate "Baden-Württemberg" and the task force provider "Frankfurt am Main", should sail through the Red Sea on the way back from its world tour has been raised since the convoy left port on 7 May 2024. It was foreseeable for naval officers that no such passage would take place without an end to the Houthi threat. The decision therefore came as little surprise to the navy and its experts. From the beginning: the world looked on in horror at the Hamas attack on Israel on 7 October 2023. From November 2023, the Houthis took over ships of the...
