Swearing-in ceremony in Bremerhaven

Swearing-in ceremony and solemn pledge at the Naval Operations School On Thursday, 6 February 2025, at 5 p.m., 175 soldiers will take their solemn pledge at the Naval Operations School. The commanding officer, Captain Andreas Seidl, will administer the oath to the recruits. They will publicly pledge their loyalty to the Federal Republic of Germany and undertake to bravely defend the law and freedom of the German people. The recruits include 74 regular soldiers and 101 volunteers doing military service. Numerous guests are also expected to attend, including Dr Eva Högl, Parliamentary Commissioner for the Armed Forces, as well as representatives from politics, business and the public sector.

US aircraft carrier "JFK" - one name, two generations

The famous US aircraft carrier, the "John F. Kennedy" (CV-67), has embarked on its final journey to be scrapped. Plans to turn the veteran into a floating museum have failed for cost reasons, but the story will continue. Cologne-based engine manufacturer eyes tkMS

The traditional Cologne-based company Deutz has expressed interest in taking over the thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (tkMS) naval shipyard, according to the Handelsblatt report. Thyssenkrupp, parent company and steel manufacturer from the Ruhr region, has been examining various options for the future of its marine division tkMS, which is internationally renowned for the construction of submarines in particular, for some time. The CEO of tkMS is also in favour of the company's independence with industrial partnerships. Supply and demand After the planned sale to US investor Carlyle fell through due to political concerns, there is now a new candidate in the form of engine manufacturer Deutz.
