Das Internationale Schifffahrtsbüro (IMB) der Internationalen Handelskammer in Deutschland (ICC) meldet in seinem aktuellen Bericht der Seepiraterie-Zahlen für das Jahr 2022 einen weiterhin deutlichen Rückgang von Piraterie-Angriffen und bewaffneten Raubüberfällen. Es ruft jedoch dazu auf, die Bemühungen weltweit fortzusetzen, um den Schutz der Seeleute vor Seepiraterie auch langfristig gewährleisten zu können. Aus einem Bericht der Neuen Züricher Zeitung An den Stränden des brasilianischen Nordostens werden seit Jahren immer wieder braune Ballen angeschwemmt. Anfänglich als "Mysteriösen Kisten" bezeichnet, zählen diese mittlerweile mehrere hundert, sind groß wie Werkzeugkisten, bewachsen von allerlei Meeresgetier und wiegen zwischen 80 und 200 Kilogramm. Nun sind auch weit im Süden Brasiliens nahe Sao Paulo derartige Funde an den Stränden gemacht worden.
