Newly developed camera systems are to be used as artificial eyes to significantly improve the automated search for shipwrecked persons. The Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) is researching this new technology together with the German Maritime Search and Rescue Service (DGzRS). The defence commissioner visits the Parow naval technology school

She is the "parliamentary representative" of the servicemen and women, which is why she emphasised the importance of regular dialogue. On 14 January 2025, Dr Eva Högl, the Parliamentary Commissioner for the Armed Forces, visited the German Navy's largest school, the Naval Technology School (MTS) in Parow. The purpose of the routine visit was to engage in direct dialogue with servicemen and women in order to gain first-hand impressions and hear their concerns. At the beginning of the visit, Dr Högl exchanged views with the school management before discussions with all rank groups followed. The exchange during hand weapon training was particularly intensive, during which the military commissioner engaged in dialogue with young recruits.
