The German Nautical Association (DNV) has announced the following personnel news following this year's virtual Annual Members' Meeting on 17 February 2022:
Captain Matthias Imrecke is elected as a further Deputy Chairman.
Captain Matthias Imrecke is a recognised expert in shipping circles and has been an active member of the Hamburg Nautical Association for many years. He is a member of the DNV's Standing Technical Committee and most recently successfully led the "Maritime Expertise" task force there. The board of the German Nautical Association currently consists of the following persons:
Chairman: Captain Christian Suhr
Deputy Chairman: Captain Hans-Hermann Lückert
Deputy Chairman: Prof Dr Iven Krämer
Deputy Chairman: Captain Matthias Imrecke
Prof Dr Dr h.c. Peter Ehlers is elected an honorary member
At the same meeting, the decision in favour of Prof. Dr Dr h.c. Peter Ehlers was a unanimous decision due to his special and long-standing services to the DNV. He was a member of the DNV Executive Board from 2005 to 2011, serving as Chairman from 2008 to 2011. He was then elected Chairman of the Advisory Board, a position he held until 2019. His many years of service as President of the Federal Maritime and Hydrographic Agency (BSH) and his great commitment to marine conservation have made Prof Ehlers well-known far beyond Germany's borders. The official handover has not yet been scheduled.
