The Bundeswehr and Reservists running team collects over 4,500 euros in donations for the soldier of the Special Forces Command who died in a rockfall in the Tyrolean Kaiser Mountains at the beginning of June.
On 9 June 2022, a soldier from the Special Forces Command tragically died in a rockfall during mountain training in Tyrol. This incident was followed with great horror and sympathy. The Bundeswehr and Reservists running team immediately decided to support the bereaved and called for a charity run. This support run ended on Sunday, 26 June 2022, during which people could run, cycle or swim. Out of respect for the deceased, the Bundeswehr and Reservists running team decided to forego a ranking and an award ceremony.
However, this did not stop the participants from expressing their support. The current commander of the Multinational Command Operational Command and former commander of the Special Forces Command, Lieutenant General Alexander Sollfrank, and the President of the Association of Reservists of the German Armed Forces, retired Colonel Prof Dr Patrick Sensburg, also supported the run. The running team would like to thank everyone for their participation. In addition to the countless individual participants, groups such as the TSB Flensburg sports club and lecture theatre 41 of the Naval NCO School also registered to collect donations together. A total of over 4,500 euros was collected, 100 per cent of which was donated by the Bundeswehr and Reservists running team to the "One of Us" support association of the Association of German Commando Soldiers.
The Bundeswehr and Reservists running team would like to express its deepest sympathy and sincere condolences to the bereaved. We wish the family much strength in this difficult time.
