First visit by Defence Minister Boris Pistorius to the German Navy

From a press release by the Rostock Naval Command:

On Tuesday, 21 February 2023, Defence Minister Boris Pistorius will visit the German Navy in Eckernförde for the first time. He will take the opportunity to familiarise himself with part of the Navy's range of capabilities, both at sea and on land.

After an exchange with the inspector of the navy, Vice Admiral Jan Christian Kaack, Minister Pistorius will visit the submarine training centre. This will be followed by a demonstration of the naval battalion's capabilities before sea voyages on the minehunter "Bad Bevensen" and the frigate "Hessen" are on the agenda. There he will gain an insight into working and living on board a warship.

At sea, exercises are planned with the submarine U32, the fleet service boat "Oste", the frigate "Baden-Württemberg" and the naval aviators. Furthermore, the Special Forces Command Navy (KSM) will be boarding on board the "Hessen". Manoeuvres with a US destroyer and the Eurofighters from the Tactical Fighter Wing 71 from Rostock Laage are also planned.

During all parts of the programme, Defence Minister Pistorius will take every opportunity to talk to the servicemen and women of the German Navy.
