The GIDS (German Institute for Strategic Studies) invites you to the #GIDSdebate. The topic of the evening is

"NATO's eastern flank: How great is the danger of war?".

On Tuesday, 4 March 2025, 6.30 pm via livestream. The #GIDSdebate is fully booked, there are only press seats left available. The organisers ask for registration by Friday, 28 February, 12 noon at [email protected]. The #GIDSdebate is available in the stream at tinyurl.com/mrwmwv3d to see.

The moderator of the #GIDSdebate, Captain at sea Dr André Pechertalks to his guests about the threat perception on NATO's eastern flank and the risk of a Russian attack. He also discusses the unity of the transatlantic alliance and the security policy course of the new US administration under President Donald Trump.

The live event venue is the International Maritime Museum Hamburg.

About the GIDS
The think tank is based on a cooperation between the Management Academy of the Bundeswehr and the Helmut Schmidt University / University of the Bundeswehr Hamburg. Officers and civilian scientists work in the think tank; together they analyse military and security policy issues of strategic importance. A further task of the GIDS is to advise decision-makers in the Bundeswehr and the Federal Ministry of Defence.
