The commander sends greetings home for Whitsun

On 7 April, the German Navy's sail training ship left its home port of Kiel to embark on a major overseas training voyage (AAR). It is travelling across the Atlantic to celebrate 250 years of independence in the United States. Stops on the voyage include Bayonne (France), Las Palmas (Gran Canaria, Spain), Hamilton (Bermuda), Norfolk, Baltimore and New York (USA) as well as Halifax (Canada) and Reykjavik (Iceland). The highlight of the voyage will be the arrival in New York on 4 July to mark the 250th anniversary of the independence of the United States and the reunion with the sister ships as part of the "Five Sisters Trophy" from New York to Boston.
Captain Elmar Bornkessel sent his greetings via messenger: „We have now travelled over 2300 nautical miles, with around 900 miles to go to Bermuda. The last few days we have been sailing quickly in a stable trade wind around 20 knots, mostly under full sail in excellent conditions. As of today we are on a north-westerly course, heading directly for Bermuda - the Bermuda Triangle already in sight and on the electronic chart,“ he wrote this morning with a wink. Greetings back from the editorial team! We are proud of you and admittedly quite envious...
