The German Navy has barely celebrated its 175th anniversary when the German government publishes a national security strategy entitled "Wehrhaft. Resilient. Sustainable. Integrated Security for Germany" as a gift.
Long awaited
Apart from the fact that the bodies concerned with Germany's national security have been calling for such a basic paper for decades, e.g. for the Bundeswehr's White Paper or its concept, a start has now been made! A start because no decision has been taken on a committee at the highest level to coordinate and set tactics. At least it has finally been possible to commit four key ministries to a harmonised text.
Not quite round yet
The answer to the question of who wears the hat for this complex topic has been a bit of a struggle. Compromises on a low-threshold level - but every round wheel once started with many corners! No further judgement - no further commentary - that is available in the public media for everyone according to their own sensitivities.
