The Indo-Pacific Association has reached another high point of the journey.
The frigate "Baden-Württemberg" and the task force provider "Frankfurt am Main" have been travelling as part of Operation Indo-Pacific Deployment since May.
After the harbour visits in Halifax and New York, the Panama Canal was crossed with destination San Diego. Following the stay in Pearl Harbor, Japan has now been reached. The participation in the RIMPAC manoeuvre together with the German Air Force has been completed, now the actual core of the operation begins. Apparently, the typhoon of the last few days was survived unscathed and avoided. The ships are now in the cruise terminal of the metropolis.
According to a navy spokesperson, it was "a great reception in Tokyo!" It was a very appreciative reception by the Japanese Self-Defence Forces under the leadership of Vice Admiral Madono. The designated German ambassador in Tokyo, Petra Sigmund, and the commander of the German association, Flotilla Admiral Axel Schulz, expressed their thanks for the hospitality and emphasised the close and trusting cooperation between Japan and Germany.
The association leader left open the frequently asked question of whether the ships will travel through the Taiwan Strait. Whether this happens depends on the political decision in Berlin. It has not yet been made, said Admiral Schulz in an interview with Handelsblatt.
