The German electricity transmission system operator 50Hertz plans to invest several billion euros in the expansion of the offshore electricity grid in the German Baltic Sea by 2028. The newly planned wind farms are expected to more than double the capacity there to three gigawatts by 2028. The Federal Network Agency has awarded a licence for another Baltic Sea wind farm to the French company Total Energies, which is planned to be built by 2030.
