MTG Marinetechnik: The future lies ahead

Hamburg-based MTG Marinetechnik GmbH is reorganising its personnel and organisation.

Founded in 1966, the company has evolved from being purely a designer of naval vessels. Its technical solutions have contributed to a number of maritime projects at home and abroad. Beyond design, MTG offers an evaluation of alternative and competing ship designs. Modelling, simulation and cost-benefit analysis have long been a matter of course on the way to a procurement decision. MTG is modifying its process management in order to continue to live up to its self-imposed claim of being a knowledge and competence centre in the maritime dimension. The new structure is intended to provide more flexibility and responsiveness.

In order to better fulfil its consulting services, MTG intends to initiate extensive internal changes this year. This will be accompanied by the appointment of four new division heads. The new management team consists of Andreas Lang (42), Daniel Puppe (42), Michael Rudius (45) and Anja Mahlke (43). Andreas Lang (Customer Relation Management) and Anja Mahlke (Finance & Support) complete MTG's management team as business economists. Michael Rudius has rounded off his business studies with an additional engineering degree. Together with shipbuilder Daniel Puppe, he will head the Operations division. Puppe will also remain an authorised signatory of MTG.

MTG's team includes 50 experts from the fields of ship and marine mechanical engineering, electrical engineering, weapons and communications engineering, physics, IT and ergonomics as well as specialists in the integration of aircraft and amphibious capabilities. Working in interdisciplinary teams, the engineering service provider develops functional requirements from operational needs, from which design ideas and technical solutions are derived. This is not just about complete systems. MTG's scope of services also includes a series of detailed studies. These include, among others: Investigations into ship safety and evacuation, the creation of manning concepts, the analysis of measurement data from ship automation systems, cost calculations for conversions or retrofits, the integration of subsystems through to the creation of tender documents and the analysis of technical-commercial offers.
