At the Sunday reception of Kiel Week 2023 on the frigate "Bayern", Guido Gerdemann, Managing Director of Hamburg-based MTG Marinetechnik GmbH, presented a model of the "Gorch Fock" to Vice Admiral Jan Christian Kaack, Inspector of the German Navy. As the sail training ship is currently in the North Atlantic and cannot be in Kiel, the Hamburg think tank and naval design office took the opportunity to bring along the 1:62 scale model as a replacement and special gift for the 175th anniversary of the German Navy and present it to the inspector.

In his speech, Gerdemann emphasised that Kiel Week should not take place without a "Gorch Fock" - after all, this is her home port - while he raised a glass to the German Navy together with the 200 or so invited guests on the frigate at the Gorch Fock pier in Kiel. In addition to speeches by Vice Admiral Kaack, the Minister of the Interior of Schleswig-Holstein Dr Sabine Sütterlin-Waack (CDU), the Lord Mayor of Kiel Dr Ulf Kämpfer (SPD) and the commander of the "Bayern", Frigate Captain Dennis Fauerbach, also had their say.

MTG Marinetechnik GmbH
MTG was founded in Hamburg in 1966. It advises its clients in Germany and abroad independently and without any vested interests on all issues relating to the planning and realisation of complex procurement projects, in particular for naval vessels. Before developing technical solutions for overall maritime systems, it provides support in the preliminary design phase to ensure that the first steps are taken in the right direction. Platform requirements, risks and benefits, forecast costs and system architectures are incorporated into the modelling of the entire process in order to make decisions and effects transparent. Detailed technical and economic analyses of maritime platforms are carried out by interdisciplinary project teams at MTG.
