The second Kiel Munition Clearance Week (KMCW25) will take place in Kiel from 18 to 20 June 2025.
It brings together international players to comprehensively analyse progress, innovations and future challenges in dealing with munitions waste in the sea. The Schleswig-Holstein Ministry of the Environment is organising the event together with the Kiel-based technology company north.io from. Over 100,000 tonnes of munitions from the world wars lie off the coast of Schleswig-Holstein - including aerial bombs, grenades and sea mines. These release hazardous substances such as explosives, mercury and heavy metals, which are increasingly jeopardising our marine environment. The danger to people and the environment continues to be dramatic. The first Kiel Munition Clearance Week was attended by numerous representatives from politics, science and technical experts. Registration for KMCW25 will open in January 2025 and will be announced.
