Marine Nationale confiscates drugs

After the British frigate HMS Montrose The French were obviously not going to stand by when a large quantity of drugs was discovered again in the past few days. On 21 March, the crew of the helicopter carrier Dixmude a suspicious freighter in the Gulf of Guinea. The ship, sailing under the flag of St Kitts and Nevis, came from South America. The boarding soldiers found suspicious bales, which turned out to be filled with cocaine. Due to the size of the ship, the operation lasted a whole day. The soldiers were able to seize a total of six tonnes of cocaine with a street value of around one billion euros. This is the largest quantity of drugs ever found by the French navy. The operation was secured by the use of an S-100 drone.
The Dixmude has been taking part in Operation Corymbe off the coast of West Africa since 9 February. This supports the navies of the coastal states and strengthens contacts with the local centres for maritime operations.
