Customised concepts and innovations in medical technology and training
ESG offers a broad portfolio of services to enable naval forces to successfully meet the demanding challenges of the future in the field of healthcare. We can draw on more than 20 years of experience, particularly in the areas of "medical technology in military operations" and "simulation environments & action trainers".
Our expertise in the design and planning of medical technology as well as in the application of the construction regulation DMS Part 1850 "Medical Equipment" represents an important interface between shipyards and the on-board medical service. This experience enables us to offer targeted support in projects that ensure adequate healthcare for soldiers on board seagoing Bundeswehr units - both for future procurement and armaments projects and for systems already in use.
Elimination of obsolescence and sustainable solutions
Maritime capability carriers are highly complex systems with an extensive capability profile - including in the area of medical services - such as the task force supply units with the now firmly integrated Naval Rescue Centre (iMERZ). As part of the conversion, the shipbuilding infrastructure and affected ship technology systems were modernised. Although the medical equipment was newly procured, its functionality largely corresponds to the previous equipment. The ongoing development of medical procedures and equipment requires a long-term strategy for adapting or supplementing the overall system.
The development of suitable solutions requires a holistic view of the system and the application of modern methods such as "architecture" and "modelling & simulation". In this way, low-risk decisions can be made and challenges in the field of modern training and operational preparation can be mastered. These measures ensure that systems, such as the task force provider, can also provide the required capabilities in the long term.
Innovative training solutions for paramedics
The training of medical personnel and rescue workers at the Navy's Maritime Medical Institute is a central pillar in optimally preparing them for deployment on board. ESG offers customised solutions for the construction and operation of simulation centres, including the reconstruction of real and virtual medical rooms in the ship's hospital as well as the storage and stockpiling of medical products and medicines.
Realistic exercises - whether with action trainers or in extended reality (XR) - can be used to create practical, scalable training scenarios. This not only increases the intrinsic motivation and learning success of participants, but also saves time and costs. It also relieves the burden on instructors and units, as the combat-ready status of personnel is significantly increased. Our solutions make it possible to train a complete sequence of actions in a competency-orientated manner - whether in skills training, group training or combined training.
In addition to the expertise outlined above, we have an extensive network of users, procurers, medical device manufacturers and other civilian service providers for medical IT systems and can therefore offer comprehensive support.
