Aircraft accident: Practising for an emergency

If a modern helicopter crashes, you have to be practised

An air accident exercise will take place in Cuxhaven tomorrow, Saturday 4 September 2021 from 12 noon. The large-scale alert and rescue exercise is aimed at civil-military cooperation. There will be a temporary increase in noise in the former "Hinrich Wilhelm Kopf Barracks" in Altenwalde. Residents in this area are asked for their understanding. During the alert and rescue exercise, an aircraft accident will be simulated and a major emergency situation declared: Fire, emergency and rescue services from Cuxhaven and the Nordholz naval airfield as well as police forces will arrive and initiate, carry out and secure the rescue and recovery measures. The simulated crash will be investigated by the police in a supplementary exercise phase.

After the accident alarm is raised, the first blue light vehicles arrive within a few minutes. A large contingent, consisting of around ten heavy emergency vehicles and other rescue and emergency vehicles, will be on the move within a very short time. A total of up to 300 civilian and military participants will be involved.
