Sweden orders Finnish patrol boats

After Lithuania, Sweden is now also buying from the Finnish boatyard Marine Alutech. According to the Swedish procurement authority Försvarets Materielverk (FMV), a contract has been signed for the replacement procurement of 20 operational boats with a value of almost 12 million euros.

The new vessels based on the Watercat M9 will replace the boats that Sweden donated to Ukraine and will strengthen transport capacities in the operational areas. According to the project manager at FMV, the primary aim is to implement measures to increase maritime safety and adapt to the needs of the new amphibious battalions.
The new boats have improved capabilities and are robust and easy to handle. The boats offer space for eight emergency personnel and two crew members or the option of transporting small amounts of cargo. All 20 boats are to be delivered by 2028.

Only recently, Sweden ordered 22 Combat Boat 90 (CB90) combat boats from Saab. Saab (CB90) and Marine Alutech (Watercat) are also suppliers for the German multi-purpose combat boats for the naval battalion and the naval special forces command.
