During the operations of the UK Carrier Strike Group in the Mediterranean, the American destroyer The Sullivans assumed the role of Air Defence Commander for the Group. The two nations have thus demonstrated their ability to work closely together in this important area.
The USS The Sullivans is currently part of the Carrier Strike Group and thus one of eight ships that will be travelling with the British aircraft carrier Queen Elizabeth will be travelling halfway around the world to the Indo-Pacific and Japan for 28 weeks. A Dutch air defence frigate, the HNLMS Evertsenhas joined the Strike Group. The The Sullivans is under the tactical command of Commander UK Carrier Strike Group, Commodore Steve Moorhouse.
