The marine - "Influencer with brush and fine tools" died unexpectedly
Appeal for donations for his last wish!
He described himself as a model maker with a maritime background and an interest in the navy. That was very modest, because he loved and lived the navy. As a soldier, he was stationed in Eckernförde as a medic and diver's assistant in the 1990s. He handed many a diver the oxygen at the edge of the pool and was wholeheartedly involved in the weapons diving group and the navy's specialised task forces. And in his heart he never actually left the German Navy, his place of longing remained the Baltic Sea, his Eckernförde.
He became known beyond the ranks of the navy as a model maker. He was the spiritus rector of the Friends of Naval Modelling. His works from the everyday life of the naval battalion, the mine divers and the underwater world could be found in the naval battalion, in duty rooms and at command handovers. Whether MEKUN, the Ministry of the Environment or Kiel Clearance Week. Björn Weinberg's gems were prominently displayed. He even produced a commissioned work for the trade fair stand of the company IO. With great craftsmanship, he built impressive maritime dioramas that brought the work of the navy to life. He was at home in Ahlen, where even the Westfälische Nachrichten newspaper reported on him. His X account AhlenBjoern bore witness to this.
And now comrade Björn Weinberg has passed away.
He leaves behind a wife and two children. The community mourns the loss of a much-loved person. It was his wish to be buried at sea. In consultation with his family, comrades have launched an appeal for donations to make a burial at sea possible. Björn Weinberg was connected to the sea and we want to help give this special person a last gift and help the family in their time of need.
He was also in contact with the marineforum editorial team. We pay tribute to a good man and offer our heartfelt condolences to his family.
Please help to give him the last journey he deserved.
