An announcement published on the online platform for public procurement, TED, in mid-July shows that the project to salvage and destroy old munitions in the North and Baltic Seas is picking up speed. Apparently at a German pace.
Federal Environment Minister Steffi Lemke announced an immediate action programme at a launch conference on 17 February 2023 and referred to the relevant agreement in the coalition agreement. According to the announcement on TED, on 30 June, her ministry awarded Forschungszentrum Jülich GmbH - Projektträger Jülich the contract for administrative processing and technical advice as the awarding authority for the award of a pilot project. Specialist circles are awaiting the invitation to tender for a pilot 'of a mobile, floating disposal facility for munitions waste' and hope that it will be announced soon.
