For Corvette Captain Maximilian Hirnstein, this is the first major voyage in his role as commander of the "Weilheim". Until now, unfortunately, little has been known about the activities of the permanent mine defence unit SNMMCMG 1. It is important to remember that this is one of the four permanent maritime task forces of the German Navy.

Arctic sea route revitalised

The Hong Kong-flagged NewNew Star (3,534 TEU) is one of the largest container ships (36,000 tonnes, 231 metres) to have sailed the northern Arctic route to date. The shipping company with a total of eight ships is the Yangpu NewNew Shipping Company, which also owns the NewNew Polar Bear, which is suspected of having damaged the Balticconnector natural gas pipeline and two underwater telecommunications cables between Estonia and Finland with its anchor in October 2023.
