Bavaria to China - Beijing asks why?

Shortly before the Bavaria set sail yesterday, the Bundeswehr announced the frigate's planned itinerary. Shanghai is one of the harbours to be visited over the next seven months. However, this is not yet certain, as a visit to China has so far only been enquired about and a response is still pending. The Hamburg was supposed to set this course at the beginning of May 2020, but the voyage had to be cancelled due to coronavirus. Despite the long preparation time, not all questions have been answered, partly due to the ongoing pandemic. The ports of call have now been officially announced, but whether the crew will be able to go ashore there despite being fully vaccinated will in some cases only be decided in the coming days and weeks. The corona situation in some parts of the travel area is deteriorating noticeably, with some countries making their...

The Greek Navy has successfully completed its first tests with the Schiebel S-100 camcopter. The capabilities of the remote-controlled mini helicopter were scrutinised for a week from on board the frigate Aigaion, the former Dutch Banckert. The focus was on testing the range, endurance and maximum speed. The possibilities offered by the rotorcraft in the areas of surveillance and detection were also tested in various trials. For this purpose, the Camcopter was equipped with a TC-300 camera from Trakka Systems, which includes electro-optical and infrared sensors. Also on board was an Automatic Identification System (AIS)...
