Defence industry is satisfied with the coalition agreement

New coalition agreement fulfils many of the recently articulated expectations of the Bundesverband der Deutschen Sicherheits- und Verteidigungsindustrie e.V. (BDSV) In recent months, the BDSV had formulated clearly defined prerequisites for a further increase in industrial capacities in favour of rapid equipping of the Bundeswehr with its "BDSV 10". The new coalition agreement between the CDU/CSU and SPD fulfils many of these expectations. Frigate "Baden-Württemberg" back to Wilhelmshaven

540 days away from home On 11 April 2025, the frigate "Baden-Württemberg" returns to Wilhelmshaven. The frigate had set sail on 20 October 2023, initially to take part in UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon). The subsequent Indo-Pacific Deployment (IPD) then took her around the world. Ports included Halifax, New York, Pearl Harbor with participation in the RIMPAC manoeuvre, as well as several port calls in the Far East and India. After a stop in Cape Town, the ship returned to the Mediterranean for UNIFIL. Russia: Combat icebreaker Ivan Papanin in Severomorsk

On 31 March 2025, the "Ivan Papanin", Russia's first "combat icebreaker", reached its home port of Severomorsk after being observed leaving the Baltic Sea on 25 March. According to information from the Northern Fleet of the Russian Federation, the ship is to carry out ice trials over the next three months near Franz Josef Land, the archipelago between Svalbard and Severnaya Zemlya about 1,000 kilometres north of Murmansk. The "Ivan Papanin" is not a classic icebreaker, but a patrol vessel assigned to the navy, which has an ice class of at least Arc6. This means it is capable of breaking ice up to 1.6 metres thick. Maritime solidarity: MTS Parow donates €25,000 to good causes!

From 25 November to 19 December, members of the Parow Naval Technology School ran their traditional naval punch stall at the Stralsund Christmas market on the initiative of the NCO interest group. The maritime classic enjoyed great popularity, far beyond the regional borders. With a great deal of personal commitment and in their free time, the members of the MTS Parow were able to raise an impressive €25,000. The proceeds will now be distributed to regional charitable organisations that are particularly committed to helping children and young people. The organisations supported include the children's and youth hospice, the Stralsund music school and the support association for people with dementia. TKMS and Ulstein Werft want to work together

Further step in German-Norwegian cooperation thyssenkrupp Marine Systems and the Norwegian Ulstein Verft signed a letter of intent at the Undersea Defence Technology (UDT) trade fair in Oslo to strengthen industrial cooperation in Norway. The aim is to combine the capabilities of both shipyards. The letter of intent of 26 March is an important step towards strengthening industrial cooperation between Germany and Norway.
