Crew F125 "Delta" under new leadership

From a Navy press release:

On Thursday, 16 December 2021 at 10 a.m., the commander of the 4th Frigate Squadron, Captain Dirk Jacobus (52), will hand over command of the F125 crew "Delta" from Frigate Captain Elmar Bornkessel (45) to Frigate Captain Tilmann von der Lühe (42) on board the frigate "Nordrhein-Westfalen" in Wilhelmshaven.

The old man

Frigate Captain Bornkessel took command of the crew F125 "Delta" in October 2018. "After more than three years in command of the 'Delta' crew, I can look back on a very fulfilling time with great satisfaction and a little pride. With the commissioning of the frigate 'Sachsen-Anhalt' and the successful completion of the GOST operational training, two events naturally stand out. We were also able to welcome the Federal President on board during our participation in the Maritime Days 2021 in Bremerhaven - an unforgettable experience for my crew and me," says the outgoing commander. The "German Operational Sea Training", GOST for short, is used to certify a German Navy crew after a ship's stay in a shipyard. In future, Frigate Captain Bornkessel will work as a policy officer at the German Military Representation at NATO Headquarters in Brussels.

The new one

His successor, Frigate Captain von der Lühe, had previously successfully completed the international general staff/admiral staff course at the Command and Staff College in Hamburg. "In a world that has not become any safer, especially over the past weeks and months, you can once again feel the great responsibility we have - as a nation, as armed forces and therefore also as commanders of seagoing units of the German Navy, which is at home on all the world's oceans. I have been well prepared for this task over the past few years and have been very lucky, as I have been richly rewarded with seafaring during this time. I am particularly looking forward to becoming a 'we' with crew 'Delta', in other words growing together and becoming part of this crew in order to successfully complete the tasks assigned to us at sea and ashore," says the future commander, looking forward to the time ahead.

The editors of marineforum.online, high and dry on land - but sitting all over Germany - wish the two commanders, old and new, every success in their new task and the crew of the "Delta" a happy voyage at all times.
