Thank you, corvette "Magdeburg" and tender "Elbe"!

The units of Flotilla 1 represented the German Navy for a week at the Kiel Week and the Day of the German Armed Forces in Stralsund

On behalf of all servicemen and women, reservists, volunteers, helpers and relatives, we would like to thank the crews of the corvette "Magdeburg" and the tender "Elbe" for their commitment to Kiel Week and Armed Forces Day. Also the Naval Air Wing 5, the naval battalion and many more!

Rides with visitors are exhausting, but also a highlight: finally being able to show what you can do. Nice encounters, relaxed visitors and great weather. As a crew, you also get very close to the "tops" of the navy and this time there was even a marriage proposal on the "Magdeburg" at the end of a trip. What more could you want! At the end of the week, the "Magdeburg" and the "Elbe" moved swiftly to Stralsund for the German Armed Forces Day, where they also demonstrated their skills on behalf of the entire German Navy.

By the way: the Magdeburg is currently one of two corvettes registered as fully operational for NATO. One special feature stood out: When entering and leaving the harbour, the aft weapon stations were "armed".

  1. Unfortunately, you don't mention the embarrassing smearing of a ship by so-called environmental and peace activists! Why do several (!) rubber dinghies approach the corvette without the guards noticing? This is incomprehensible. Have the guard services been 'privatised' again, or do van der Leyen's 'working time regulations' no longer allow round-the-clock surveillance?

    1. Mr Kaestner, this article is a thank you to the crews. This is a positive message.
The negative reports about the smearings were as frequent as if there had been nothing else to report from Kiel Week. In case you haven't read it: yes, the frigate's (not corvette) military watch noticed it immediately. And the police, who had been notified, intervened on their own authority. Only if the colour attack had escalated would there have been a reaction from the crew. That's what you call proportionality.
