On Saturday, 6 June 2026, the naval air base in Nordholz will open its doors for Armed Forces Day.

The naval aviators are hosting the major nationwide event. Visitors can expect a programme from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m. with insights into the mission, technology and people of the Bundeswehr. Under the motto "WE ARE THERE", the Bundeswehr will be presenting itself in all its diversity - for visitors to touch, participate in and experience. The highlights of the day are the various flight demonstrations. The new P-8A Poseidon submarine hunter, the A400M military transporter, the NH-90 Sea Lion helicopter, the Mk88A Sea Lynx on-board helicopter, the Eurofighter and other aircraft will be on display.
The army, air force and navy present modern large-scale equipment and provide an insight into the capabilities and mission of the armed forces. Among other things, Leopard main battle tanks, the 2000 self-propelled howitzer and numerous other vehicles and weapon systems will be on display. In addition, the marines will be demonstrating "fast roping" - abseiling from a helicopter. The "Life in the field" section shows how soldiers work and live under operational conditions.
On the Blue Light Mile, the fire brigade, police and other rescue organisations present their work and provide exciting insights into civil protection. Hands-on activities allow visitors to experience emergency technology up close. Families and children can also look forward to experiences with play and hands-on activities such as a bouncy castle, play area and make-up corner. The programme is complemented by gastronomic offerings and food stands throughout the event site.
Armed Forces Day in Nordholz for the second time
Since 2015, the Armed Forces Day has been held on a Saturday in June, most recently in 2019 at the naval air base in Nordholz. Almost 15,000 people marvelled at the various Bundeswehr equipment and aircraft on this day. With the Bundeswehr Day, the Bundeswehr aims to create transparency and promote direct dialogue with society.
Security measures
Special security regulations apply for access to the event site. ID checks will be carried out, so all visitors are requested to carry a valid ID document. Persons from countries included in the list of countries pursuant to Section 13(1)(17) of the Security Check Act (SÜG) will not be granted access to the event site. Children and young people under the age of 16 may only be admitted if accompanied by a parent or guardian of legal age. The Bundeswehr asks for your understanding for the necessary security measures.
