Donald Cook back at home

On 17 March 2022, we reported on the visit of the USS "Donald Cook" to Warnemünde. The Arleigh Burke-class guided missile destroyer returned to Naval Station Mayport on 24 April after a three-month deployment.

The "Donald Cook" departed from Naval Station Mayport in January on a short-term deployment to operate with NATO allies and partners in the Eastern Atlantic, North Sea and Baltic Sea. The crew spent more than 70 days at sea and made three port visits. In addition to Rostock, these were Copenhagen (Denmark) and the Isle of Portland (England).

During her deployment, the Donald Cook took part in the NATO exercise Dynamic Guard 2022 in the North Sea. Hosted by Norway, Dynamic Guard is a biennial multinational electronic warfare exercise that provides tactical training for NATO response forces and NATO national units. For the first time in three years, two US ships participated to further enhance ongoing cooperation, strength and interoperability between NATO allies. The Donald Cook is scheduled to return to shipyard maintenance in June for the first time since her return from her former homeport of Rota, Spain.
