The Federal Office of Bundeswehr Equipment, Information Technology and In-Service Support (BAAINBw) in Koblenz is focusing on continuity and has extended the existing contract with the F125 consortium (ARGE) for the technical and logistical support of the "Baden-Württemberg" class until March 2029.
The consortium is made up of the lead company thyssenkrupp Marine Systems (tkMS) and the northern German shipyard group Naval Vessels Lürssen (NVL Group).
The extension of the contract, which covers all four ships and the associated testing and training centre in Wilhelmshaven, essentially serves to maintain the operational readiness of the ship class in view of the constantly changing requirements, as the F125 ships will be the backbone of the German Navy's operational commitments in the coming years, writes tkMS in a statement.
The frigate "Baden-Württemberg" (F 222) is currently the first ship of the class to be deployed for UNIFIL (United Nations Interim Force in Lebanon) in the eastern Mediterranean.
