Today, 29 August 2023, the second STS boat for Wehrtechnische Dienststelle 71 in Eckernförde was christened "Holstein" at the TAMSEN MARITIM shipyard in Rostock. Until now, TAMSEN MARITIM had only been known as a repair company, but after the christening of the "Schleswig" and the "Holstein", newly built boats from the Warnow will soon be included in the German Navy's fleet list for the first time.
In his speech to business partners, staff and media representatives of the Hanseatic City of Rostock, Managing Director Christian Schmoll primarily thanked his employees, but also the excellent work of the partner shipyard from Tangermünde in Anhalt. In his speech, Frank Menning, Director of the Defence Technical Service 71, emphasised that the shipyard on the Warnow is an important building block for the availability of the German Navy's large ships and boats. The new boats will enable the operational readiness of the units based in Eckernförde to be supported much more flexibly.
The godmother of the STS boat "Holstein", Government Councillor Eva Christina Haack from WTD 71, wished the boat and the crew a safe journey and a safe return to port before the obligatory champagne bottle was smashed on the bow.
marineforum supports the wishes of the godmother.
