Pooling and strengthening maritime expertise

From the press release:

Deutscher Marinebund/DMB, Deutsche Maritime Akademie/DMA and Deutsches Maritimes Institut/DMI agree on close cooperation

Laboe. The maritime idea and the maritime message should be better disseminated and anchored in the public and in the media. This is the aim of a co-operation agreement between the DMB, DMA and DMI. The agreement was signed by the President of the DMB and Chairman of the DMA, former State Secretary Heinz Maurus, and the President of the DMI, former Rear Admiral Karsten Schneider, on 12 November in Laboe. The aim is to consolidate and pool the strengths, possibilities and resources of the contractual partners in order to represent the maritime message united at all levels. With this agreement, the presidiums and boards of the participating associations confirmed their desire for in-depth cooperation with the aim of being increasingly recognised as a "maritime team" with one voice in the future.

The goals

It applies,

  • to better present the commonalities, objectives and cooperation between the clubs and associations to politicians and the public,
  • to intensify cooperation through joint events,
  • to inspire young soldiers for the maritime idea through joint live, virtual or hybrid events,
  • establish new joint communication and information formats,
  • institutionalise and further intensify cooperation in media appearances,
  • establish a continuous exchange of information,
  • representatives in the federal capital Berlin who speak jointly and equally for all organisations,
  • to create a "Maritime & Security Entrepreneur Network" format and
  • realise reciprocal representation on the executive committees and boards.

Alliance for people. Shipping. Sea.

The DMB and the DMA offer a forum for all people connected with the sea and seafaring. They are aimed at those who are enthusiastic about ships and seafaring or are interested in topics such as environmental protection of the seas or the maritime economy. The DMB and DMA also promote all areas of German seafaring in close cooperation with the navy and merchant shipping and provide information throughout Germany about the importance and necessity of free seafaring for the Federal Republic. The DMB and DMA participate in the discussion of current maritime issues in a non-partisan manner and are the point of contact for maritime decision-makers in our society.

Forum for discussion and exchange of ideas on maritime issues.

The DMI deals with maritime events and developments that have an impact on policy and strategy. Germany is one of the world's leading nations in industry, exports and logistics. Prosperity and jobs throughout the country depend on this. It is important to emphasise the ties that result from Germany's dependence on the sea and its trade routes. Germany's economic strength is a prerequisite for it to be able to fulfil its role as a leading nation and crisis manager in Europe. It is not at the expense of other nations, but is based on global exchange for mutual benefit.
