The Geneva, Switzerland-based Mediterranean Shipping Company (MSC) is not only the largest shipping company, but is also the first to reach a fleet of over 900 ships. This milestone was reached with the delivery of the container ship MSC GERMANY (Neopanamax, 16,000 TEU). This was reported by the French analysis company Alphaliner.

This new addition is equipped with LNG propulsion and is the fifth ship in a series of twelve that were ordered from a Chinese shipyard in October 2022.

According to Alphaliner, the MSC fleet consisted of 623 owned and 295 chartered and internally managed ships as at 27 May 2025. The total capacity thus amounted to around 6.63 million TEU.

In the coming years, the MSC fleet is to grow to 1,000 ships, and more than 125 additional ships have already been ordered.
