After many years of waiting, HMS "Queen Elizabeth" has finally taken over her assigned role as flagship of the Royal Navy. On 27 January at 13:30, the time had finally come: the ships of the British Navy honoured their new leader with a signal. Fleet Commander Vice-Admiral Jerry Kyd was present on the "Queen" when the handover of the role from HMS "Albion" took place. The First Sea Lord, Admiral Tony Radakin, had fitting words: "The position as flagship of the fleet is a symbol of the importance of HMS Queen Elizabeth to our nation, not only by restoring our ability to deploy an aircraft carrier, but also as an enduring symbol of the UK's contribution to global security, prosperity and trade"
